Laura’s Costa Rica Housing Plan

Costa Rica Housing PlanThe plan of government by Laura Chinchilla 2010-2014, the strategy for providing proper Costa Rican housing for citizens and better management of the sector. This is oriented towards providing solutions to ensure that the Costa Rica housing does not become an issue only short term but has a positive impact in the long term.

A first step is to create a national management plan for Costa Rica’s land. This is aimed at making Costa Rica housing developments to be carried out in the future to take advantage of the installed capacity at the local level (schools, health centers, recreational areas) and coordinate the development of social infrastructure and economic development new housing projects. By providing comprehensive housing solutions, it creates an incentive for new projects are well maintained over the long term, not necessarily something that has happened so far. Additionally, the plan would help the development of flagship projects in housing, which would be conducted in coordination with local governments and other state institutions, which not only help provide a proper roof, but also help build communities properly integrated into local development.

Another important step is to conduct institutional reform, including the Ministry of Housing (MIVAH), the National Institute of Housing and Urbanism (INVU) and the Banco Hipotecario de la Vivienda (BANHVI). For this, the current government has made significant progress including the development of an information system that allows better targeting for social housing programs. However, lack the institutions to guide more comprehensive task-oriented and long-term social development. For example, the Housing Department should be responsible for being a rector of the whole sector, while the INVU should not only be a savings and loan, but rather an institution capable of coordinating housing developments that are appropriately linked to the local social and economic infrastructure.

I am yet to see a Costa Rican president with good plans for the country. No a single one has been worth’s his salt or his salary. WE NEED FULL DEVELOPMENT EVERYWHERE. NOT PRIVILEGED DEVELOPMENT FOR SOME AREAS OF THE COUNTRY AND OTHERS GET NOTHING. When I was little boy, I thought that my country produced everything it needed. Little did I know that my country was just an exporter of capital.

You are most welcomed. Let me make it clear that I am not advocate of violence of any kind or extremism of anything kind. I am just concerned about the ways of life that are fast disappearing, leaving millions of honest people with(out) jobs, food, and shelter all over the world. There is no more safety net for billions of people.
