Thanks for writing. You must have seen one of those movies from years ago and you are right the Taiwan mafia and political lobby had everything to do with it. Plus the loser lawyer he had representing him was a sham who was simply promising Watson what he wanted to hear.

Now that Costa Rica cuts diplomatic ties with Taiwan, there is not much influence from them but the profit motive is still there and remains lucrative. Enforcement never works well when the collective society accepts a certain behavior or practice.

If you really want to cry “bloody murder” why not stop buying cell phones which use a mineral which is mined by African man and children by there hands. That is right, they use their hands and get very little value for the labor and the murder continues in Africa because western nations want the product that only they can produce. Therefore, there are plenty of areas which the global community and individual practices directly harm other people by buying certain products.

When 129 nations have rejected the bogus warrant from Costa Rica calling for Paul Watson’s arrest, please explain why Costa Rica issued this. Captain Watson was documenting the atrocities of shark finning in Costa Rica and broke no national or international laws doing it. The only reason Costa Rica issued the warrant is because of pressure from Taiwan who is paying Costa Rica millions of dollars a year for the shark fins. What a hypocrisy! So much for Costa Rica’s “Pura Vida” motto and touting to tourists (I was there in December) their high standards for conservation of wildlife and natural environs. I guess Costa Rica’s standards are for sale if the price is right. Please drop this warrant against Paul Watson and have Costa Rica literally “put your money where your mouth is!”

As a constant traveler, I could not in good conscience travel to Costa Rica again if it continues to support this travesty. My dollars and my voice will go to support the nations that respect wildlife and the people who protect it.

I am done telling people what an honorable and impressive nation Costa Rica is. This warrant against Paul Watson has destroyed the high opinion I used to have of Costa Rica!

buenas para que hablan de proyectos milagrosos de vivienda digna para todos, sí cualquier proyecto fue hecho para la gente que sí tiene dinero y en realidad no necesitan para tenér casa como es posible y no tiene lógica que sí un bono de vivienda es para gente de bajo recurso no tiene lógica que como requisito piden un ingreso de un millón y resto para construir en vertical, ahí es donde me pregunto cuando realmente van a pensar en las personas que no tienen opción de un préstamo para vivienda

Estimada Sra. Presidenta:

Yo leo hoy en “La Nacion” que el gobierno esta aumentando varias carnes y frutas a la lista de comida que pertenece el impuesto de ventas de 13%. Para mi, esto es una barbaridad ! La comida debe ser “santo”, y exempto de cualquier impuesto. Si el gobierno necesita cortar el deficit, mejor cortar el salario de todo los burecraticos, o mejor cortar los empleos de estos inutiles !

Otra cosa – yo vivo en Florida, USA, donde el impuesto de ventas es solo 6%, y no incluye comida ! Nosotros queremos regresar a Costa Rica, con nuestros pensiones, pero si los impuestos continuen subir, vamos a pensar doble ! No maltrata el pueblo con esto impuesto cruel ! Ud. va a provocar mucho odio entre la gente, y tambien negar mucho migracion de pensionados – “la gallina del huevo de oro.”

First of all –she chose the wrong university when she came to America–If G-town University was her choice —she was destined to be inefficient and misdirected as a business leader. Secondly -were she worthy of becoming the president of CR, she would have groomed herself for the position in a more proficient manner.I adore her for her accompolishments- but I give her a -C- for her leadership. I feel she needs to look over politics–which is possible in the little country of CR–and be the leader that I believe she can be.
I have followed her closely and her attention seems to dwell correcting the symptoms and not addressing the problems. I speak to many ex-pat’s in CR and we feel that for the American approval to increase– she needs to make her tica approval increase. Tarriffs are to high –the CR people do not enjoy an income level for such high taxes…. Cost of living for staples are on par with the states-the CR people cannot afford this and hope for any future prosperity. Safety is terrible–when is she going to protect the country so the bars can start coming off peoples windows and they can go for a walk with their children in the late afternoon??
I only see –Business as usual– just as in America– where is the future for the disenchanted??? Tell me where and I will promise you that there will be a giant exodus from America–Latin America– Europe—and the new hope destination will be prosperous– secure–and happy as God intended life to be..
